The History of Monroe County West Virginia references a man named William Ballard who “Shortly after that event (the Rev. War) left his home on the Rapidan and after a short stay in Albemarle he journeyed to Indian Creek (in Monroe Co.) with two horses, one cow, and a few household goods, arriving at Benjamin Harvey’s on Christmas night, 1793.” Two of Col. John Harvey’s sons married daughters of Philip Ballard and Ann Nancy Johns(t)on (Joseph and Benjamin Harvey married Lucy Jane and Susannah Ballard, respectively). Lucy and Susannah had a brother named William who might very well be this William. The web link no longer works so I need to find the original source.
