Mary “Polly” Meador was born about 1770 in Bedford County, Virginia. She was the youngest child of Jeremiah Meador and Caroline. The will of Jeremiah Meador, Will Book D1-4 Page 296 Recorded 27th January 1817 in Bedford Co VA, names three children, William, Richard, and Mary.

The McCormack family had property in Bedford Co VA near Jeremiah Meador. Being a farming communitly, Dennis and Mary must have seen each other often at gatherings. When she married Dennis McCormack she would have been the only daughter. Note: the oldest child may have been Lydia but died in 1786.

The marriage of Dennis McCormack and Mary Meador was 2 June 1791 in Bedford Co VA performed by Rev John Ayers. The record in the US Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy and states ‘dt Jeremiah Meador’. The marriage record between Dennis and Mary had surety provided by Micajah Dowell. Micajah Dowell was married to Frances Meador. Frances Meador was the daughter of Ambrose Meador a cousin connection between Mary’s father, Jeremiah Meador and Ambrose Meador.

Meador Families of Virginia and Points West Vol 3 pg 1802 , Victor Paul Meador gives a family tree with Mary Meador and her husband as Dennis McCormack.

In 1792, Dennis McCormack is listed on Bedford Co VA personal property taxes on the same page as Jeremiah Meador. But in 1817, Dennis and Mary McCormack sold property in Bedford Co VA and the deed gives Franklin Co VA as their residence. This would have been about the same time as Jeremiah Meador died.

The Will Book B 1829-1847 Giles Co VA gives the estate for Dennet McCormac. It does not name Polly as the wife but lists her with household goods such as cupboard, spinning wheel and bed.

No death records has been found to date. There is a findagrave with no know burial location or source document with the date of 1833 (Same year that her husband Dennis died). There is also death record for Polly McCormeny, Wythe Co VA, 1867, in a Poor House FHL#107848116 Img 60 given the age of 112. If we apply the age of Mary Meador McCormick, this woman would have been 102 which seems far more likely and then matches the birth of this Mary Meador. Wythe is close to Giles Co and no other death records have yet been located. No doubt impoverished widow by the situation of the civil war. Maybe. But otherwise still looking for her death record.
